A Crash Course in Cabinetry
Believe it or not, there are a lot of different types of cabinets that you can choose from. However, they all fall into three broad categories:
These cabinets are usually mass-manufactured and pre-made for any kitchen.
Although parts of these cabinets are pre-made, they are also more tailored to your kitchen's needs.
These cabinets are entirely tailor-made for you and your kitchen's overall look.
Within these categories lie five types of cabinets that we use during your cabinet installation:
Sometimes referred to as lower cabinets, these cabinets provide a sturdy base for countertops, table islands, or even seating. These types of cabinets are usually used for the storage of kitchen equipment such as pots and pans.
Sometimes referred to as upper cabinets, these cabinets are positioned on the wall and can help you provide more essential storage and beauty to your kitchen. These types of cabinets are usually used for the storage of food and cooking ingredients.
Sometimes referred to as pantries or utility cabinets, these cabinets can be used for any type of storage in your kitchen. They also provide a striking new look for your kitchen space because of its modern and minimalist aesthetic.
While the previous three types of cabinets are very different in their looks or functions, they are connected by the need to have a beautiful door installed on the front of it. These doors can be customized to your exact requirements and desires.
Similar to doors, these small types of cabinets can be used to store virtually anything. They can be customized to fit your kitchen.
The team at Installation Services of Brevard can help you determine which kind of cabinet is right for you and your kitchen. Whether you want to find the best stock cabinet for you or you want us to create the cabinets of your dreams, our highly skilled team is here to make sure your cabinet installation is the best it can be.
The Cabinet Installation Process
Our team of highly skilled technicians follows a very intricate cabinet installation process in order to make sure your cabinets are secure. Safety and satisfaction are our primary concerns. Loose cabinet installation can turn into an expensive situation or worse if someone is harmed from a faulty cabinet installation. Our customers know we provide completely licensed work that we will proudly put our name behind. Here is a rundown of the process we take for all of our cabinet installation clients:
Mark Where The Cabinets Will Be Placed
Before cabinet installation begins, we need to make sure that we know exactly where we need to install and set the cabinets. Typically, we use a Sharpie or pencil to clearly define where we plan to place your new cabinets.
Position The First Cabinet
Although we do not begin installing it into the wall just yet, we do place our first cabinet approximately a quarter inch from the predetermined placement line.
Remove Cabinet Doors Or Drawers
In order to ensure we install your new cabinets as secure as possible, we need to make sure that your current cabinets are completely unattached from your wall. If this is not done as soon as possible, you could potentially create some structural damage within your home.
Begin Cabinet Installation With The Upper Cabinets
If necessary, it is essential to install the upper cabinets first because you do not need to be put into uncomfortable positions during cabinet installation.
Clamp, Drill, And Fasten These Upper Cabinets
During the cabinet installation process, we line up the face frames and secure them together using clamps. We usually pre-drill our cabinets before installing them to the wall, so this process goes by smoother.
Fasten The Back Of The Lower Cabinets
When the upper cabinets are finished being installed, now it is time to move on to the lower cabinets. We fasten the back of the lower cabinets to the previously-filled level line on the wall during this.
Create The Filler
During cabinet installation, there will inevitably be a gap between the cabinets and the wall. We measure the gap that is created during this installation and furnish a filler to be placed. After this filler is designed and established, the entire process of fastening is repeated.
Cut Holes For Water Lines And Drainpipes
Your utilities need to be connected through your cabinets. That is why we work closely with a certified plumber for all of our bathroom and kitchen projects. Our plumbers cut holes that are slightly larger than your pipes into the cabinets. If these holes are too small or too large, they can cause minor damage to both the cabinets and the lines and pipes themselves.
Install your hardware
To add the finishing touches to your new cabinets, we recommend installing new handles or railings to finish your new look.
